Half-Day Retreat & Potluck
Saturday, October 4, 2025
9am - 1pm
Atlanta Friends Meeting House
701 West Howard Avenue, Decatur
In these unsettled times—when conflict, climate, and uncertainty touch so many lives—it is a rare gift to pause, grow quiet, and remember the heart’s vast capacity for care. This retreat invites us to step out of the noise and into stillness, supported by the gentle presence of a community of practitioners.
Together, we will cultivate metta (loving-kindness) and karuna (compassion)—qualities the Buddha described as “great,” because they expand beyond self, reaching boundlessly into the world. Through guided meditations, silence, and shared practice, we will nurture these radiant qualities so they can steady us in times of turbulence and ripple outward as healing.
Please join us as we intentionally set aside a few hours to practice in community. Through silent and guided meditations and a couple of dharmettes given by Susan and Stephanie, we will share in the dhamma with each other.
At the end of the retreat, we will break noble silence to share a potluck, plant-based meal, practicing compassion for all living-beings.
8:15 Coffee, tea and vegan breakfast breads
8:30 Silent Retreat Orientation Session for participants new to silent retreat
9:00 Program
1:00 Vegan Potluck
Upon completion of your registration, you will be redirected to our Dana page where you can make your donation in any amount. We are suggesting a per person donation of $40 to cover the expenses of this retreat, including a baseline donation to the teachers. The generosity of donating over and above the suggested amount will enable the Sangha to continue offering opportunities for others to hear and practice the Dharma. Please include the word "Retreat" in the Notes section when using Paypal, Venmo, or Zelle. If you're using the Paypal Giving Fund, check the box to share your name and email with us.
Volunteers are needed at 8:00am to help with setup and after lunch to help with clean up. We also need volunteers to donate vegan and GF vegan breakfast items to serve with morning coffee.
