Our Dāna Statement

July 2025

The transformative teachings of the Buddhadharma have been offered  freely for more than 2600 years, and AIMC continues this beautiful tradition  in the practice of Dāna, which is the Pāli term for generosity.

Dāna is understood as foundational to all aspects of the path. At heart, it is  a gift that enables others to benefit from the dharma now and in the future.

Dāna may include service to the Sańgha such as volunteering for a  committee; it might be the offering of a warm and kind heart welcoming  new sańgha members; it might take the form of financial support; or it  might be seen in any expression of generosity and service that these  teachings have inspired in you.

Dāna is not transactional, and there is no “right” way to practice it. We  encourage you to listen to your heart and be mindful of your resources to  find the middle path where your offering is good for you, the Sańgha, and  future generations. With any gift you offer, you support our community and  our teachers.

We offer a deep bow to those who have offered Dāna in the past and  extend our gratitude to you for any and all offerings of your presence, time,  kindness, financial support, or service.
