"One who drinks deep the Dhamma lives happily with a tranquil mind. The wise ever delight in the Dhamma made known by the Noble One."
The Dhammapada, Verse 79
We often treat calm and joy as strangers to each other, as though stillness must be flat, and delight must be loud. The Buddha taught otherwise. Tranquility (samatha) is not the absence of feeling but the ground that allows feeling to arise cleanly; joy (pīti and sukha) is not a distraction from practice but one of its natural fruits. Each steadies and enlarges the other.
In a culture that chases joy through stimulation and mistakes stillness for emptiness, this half-day retreat offers something different: a chance to settle the mind deeply enough to discover the ease and delight that were already there, waiting beneath the noise.
Join us in silence and community as we practice together through guided meditation, quiet sitting, and shared presence, cultivating a mind that is at once calm and light, still and glad. May we leave not only quieter, but lighter.
